“On the serious side, Hoffmann, sung by late replacement Drew Slatton, is the brooding poet whose attempts at happiness are always thwarted by his nemesis.  Slatton's character is excellent. The tenor's singing began with some of the ruggedness one would expect of such a tortured soul. It became more beautiful when playing a younger version of Hoffmann. Warm and impassioned in the second act, it peaked in the extended trio with some beautiful high notes.”
-Ben Allaway, Des Moines Register

“Drew Slatton handled Hoffman’s journey from callow youth to jaded cynic skillfully.  The duet with Antonia found the tenor singing with appealing lyricism.”
-Mark Thomas Ketterson, Opera News Online

"Drew Slatton performed with discipline and commitment, and had no problems with the vocal demands of the title role."
