“The most emotionally sincere and committed member of the cast was Drew Slatton as Edgardo. When confronted with Lucia's marriage to a rival, his anger washed over the stage in waves, carrying the entire ensemble through the Act II finale.
With all of the acclaim given to Lucia's mad scene, it is an extremely difficult project for the tenor, since he must reappear to sing an incredibly difficult aria and cabaletta, then commit suicide to end the opera. However, Mr. Slatton was equal to the task, and in fact made his final scene the most emotionally poignant moment of the entire opera. Not only was his vocalism solid and expressive, but his desperation and sadness were palpable as well."
